CGI stands for Computer Generated Imagry.

I enjoy the freedom CGI gives you to create awesome CGI demo reels.

I use many programs for DCC.
I believe that most people dislike CGI because it portrays an unbelievable concept. If you're really awesome, you can integrate digital elements into your movie and extend the believablity of your universe. Otherwise, they'll just complain about bad CGI.

I love CGI, but generally only use it as a cheap trick to fool people into thinking I've actually done a significant amount of work on a project. I'd much rather fly in real life than use green screens, compositing and 3D scanning to make it look like I can fly. =)
